I have an opportunity to purchase a 76 Pacer and I am standing on the fence wether to buy it or not. The interior door panels are shot, as most every pacer I have seen at the junk yard are, but I do know of a junk yard that has a set that are not cracked at all. The question is Are the door panels the same on a sedan and a wagon or are they a different size?????
Also, what do you think of a 76 Pacer sedan, auto, not too much rust except for the right rear quarter panel. On this part there is rust along the window and substantioal rust behind the wheel. The speedo says 46000 miles. It also needs a paint job. The title says 46000 miles. I sort of believe this to be correct. There is a heel hole in the carpet which suggests a high milage car, but the seats look like a car that only went 46000 miles. A rip one one stitch line. but thats it. The auto parts store that is selling it has just put on a new carb and distributer. Only big problem is that the car has sat awhile and it should have the gas tank emptied and cleaned. Other than that all major things work as they should. I did not look for a/c but will if I go back. They are asking 1000 but I think that I could get them down to 9 or 800. What do you think? Thanks in advance

the doors on the sedans and the wagons are the same size and should be interchangeable. i say if you can get them down to 800 buy it up. sounds pretty decent to me. i was also unsure of the original miles on my pacer when i bought it but once the odometer rolled over to 50000 the "5" was bright white, which made me beleive it hadnt really seen much sun or light yet and i decided that it had not yet rolled through the 50000 mile mark. i replaced my carpet as my old one was pretty rough. ive replaced the gas tank on another pacer i used to own, and it wasnt a big job at all. good luck with it if you buy it
