976 AMC Pacer - Cinnaminson, New Jersey
Growing up one of my favorite things was watching SNL as a family. My favorite sketches always included Dana Carvey. He was simply the best! Church lady was amazing, but nothing will ever beat what is one of my favorite movies of all time...Wayne’s World. The scene with Wayne and Garth headbanging to Bohemian Rhapsody was so iconic. It turned on a new generation to the music of Queen, including myself. Thank you, Mike Myers, for threatening to walk off the set if this scene didn’t happen. Anywho, ever since that moment I dreamed of owning my very own powder blue 1976 AMC Pacer. Well, after 20+ years , a random eBay auction, and a lack of communication with my beautiful, understanding, smart, wife later, I was a proud owner of my very own mirthmobile! On top of the world baby! I had never felt so high. I purchased this a few years ago when we didn’t have any kids and I had disposable income. The long term plan was to fix it up nicely and I had intended to replicate the mirthmobile and for it to be a quirky daily driver.
It’s time to let go.
We now have 2 beautiful girls, 1 & 3. We have relocated to Texas to be closer to my wife’s family. I took a huge pay cut and am trying to let go of unnecessary things. Please let me know if anyone is interested in checking it out. Or if anyone has suggestions for putting this car in the hands of someone that will appreciate it. Here’s a bunch of pictures of it.
Photos & Videos
When I received it, the head gasket needed to be replaced. I took it to a classic car shop (I’ll update the post when I can remember the name of the place). I said “make it safe to drive.” We put about $3,500 into it and got new tires, an oil change, the head gasket replaced, new rack and pinion steering, some drum brake work, new wipers, new tires, and probably a few additional small things done to it.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested in taking a look or you have suggestions on where to spread the word.
Thank you,
Dave
